Mum calls for greater support after terminal cancer diagnosis

The rarity means little research has been done into the condition

A mother with a rare form of terminal cancer has made an emotional plea for greater support and research to be given for those dying from the condition.

Stephanie Thomson has extra rextrarenal rhabdoid tumour – so rare doctors treating her admit they’ve never seen it in an adult patient before – and estimate she’s one in 325 million.

She has praised the care she has received so far from her team, but says being denied access to clinical trials and experimental treatments feels like being handed a death sentence.
