MSPs warn ‘herculean effort’ needed to cut child poverty

New support package announced but charities say plans are 'weak'

Opposition MSPs say a “herculean” effort will be needed to meet the Scottish Government’s ambitious child poverty targets, which have so far been missed.

A new package of support for parents was unveiled today, including expanding childcare support and reducing transport costs for low-income parents travelling to work.

But charities warn that the plan is “weak” and that too many children will be left behind.
