The mother of a convicted killer nurse says she is frightened, but hopeful, as judges retire to consider an appeal which she believes could “end a 17-year nightmare.”
Colin Campbell, formerly known as Colin Norris, was found guilty of murdering four elderly patients by injecting them with insulin.
His barrister told appeal judges in London it is a straightforward case and they must conclude the convictions are unsafe.
The prosecution’s lawyers say nothing had changed since the original trial.
