Month’s rainfall in a day as floods hit the North East

Aberdeenshire and Angus were hardest hit but there have also been big problems in Fife and Edinburgh

Weather warnings for heavy rain remains in place across much of eastern Scotland tonight – after a day of disruption caused by the extreme weather.

More than a month’s worth of rain has fallen since yesterday. Rivers burst their banks and many places were flooded.

The Scottish Government has held an emergency resilience meeting to discuss the impact of the flooding, with warnings that it could be life-threatening.
