MI5 head apologises for not preventing Manchester bombing

Twenty-two people - including 14 year old Eilidh MacLeod from Barra - died in the attack

The head of MI5 says he is “profoundly sorry” the agency did not prevent the Manchester Arena attack in 2017.

Salman Abedi detonated a bomb after an Ariana Grande concert.

A public inquiry has found the terror attack might have been prevented if MI5 had acted on key intelligence received in the months before the bombing.
