Mavisbank House receives £5m for full restoration

Work on the building, which is of national significance, will be finished in five years

Three centuries after it was built and 50 years after it almost burnt to the ground, a historic mansion which has been derelict for years is set to be saved.

Mavisbank House in Midlothian has been awarded more than £5m by the National Heritage Fund.
