Major fire forces hundreds to evacuate their homes near football stadium

Firefighters battled to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.

A major fire in Aberdeen has forced people from their homes and closed surrounding roads.

Crews were called to the blaze on Merkland Road East near Pittodrie Stadium around 8am.

Almost 100 residents had to be housed in a temporary rest centre at the city’s Sports Village.
