Long delayed ferry MV Glen Rosa launched at Port Glasgow

The ship isn't due to be handed over to operators CalMac until September 2025

The second of the two long-awaited and over-budget ferries has been officially launched from Ferguson’s shipyard in Port Glasgow.

While today is a significant milestone for the MV Glen Rosa, it will be at least another 18 months before it’s ready to serve passengers.

The ferry and its sister vessel have been a running political sore for the Scottish Government and for Fergusons, but controversy and challenges were put to one side for a ceremony that honoured Clydeside traditions.
