Locals in the village of Thornton, Fife, have been left angered by Network rail’s plans to close a railway bridge for 14 months, saying it will mean huge disruption for residents and local businesses.
A local farmer who owns land on both sides of the bridge told STV News his tractors can cross the bridge 60 times a day but now detours could see that one-mile journey convert to nine miles, meaning the same journey would clock up around 500 miles a day.
Network Rail agreed during a meeting on Thursday to pause plans and consult with those impacted, but the community say they want a full re-think.
