Licence granted for UK first rocket launch site on Shetland

The approval means SaxaVord can start launches from next year

Shetland has become the UK’s first site for launching rockets vertically into space.

The Civil Aviation Authority has granted the licence to SaxaVord, which will send rockets from its launch pad in Unst next year.

It’s been hailed as a milestone for Scotland’s rapidly growing space industry. which is worth millions to the economy.
