A legal challenge to the UK Government’s blocking of the gender recognition reform bill has begun at the Court of Session – with Scotland’s Lord Advocate arguing that the use of the section 35 order was unlawful.

The Scottish Government fears the wider principle of devolution is at risk – but the UK Government says the proposed law would clash with reserved legislation.
