Legal challenge launched against Rosebank oil field approval

Both Uplift and Greenpeace are taking separate action over the decision

Environmental groups are taking legal action over the approval of one of the largest undeveloped oil fields in the North Sea.

Two campaign groups claim that the process didn’t consider the pollution from burning oil in the Rosebank field off the coast of Shetland or how it aligns with Net Zero plans.

But the UK Government rejected the claims, with the Prime Minister saying he’ll continue to back the North Sea.
