Largest North Sea oil field could cease production in three years

The oil firm Apache is now considering stopping production in 2026

Oil production at one of the largest oil fields in the North Sea could come to an end in just three years’ time.

The Forties field was discovered more than 50 years ago, and marked the start of success in the sector.

The revelation came in court documents during a case around a decommissioning agreement – which Apache lost.
