Keir Starmer has been forced to defend his strategy on child poverty facing his first Prime Minister’s Questions since Labour’s general election victory.

He suspended seven Labour MPs last night after they rebelled, backing an SNP amendment calling for the two child cap on benefits to be scrapped.
