After hundreds of years, Scotland’s unique third verdict of “not proven” is on the verge of being consigned to history.
MSPs are expected to vote in favour of scrapping it, as part of a reform of the system aimed at improving the experience of victims of crime. Campaigners welcome the change – but some lawyers are concerned about the potential consequences.
