Investigations begin ahead of £470m Rest and Be Thankful works

Business owners fear diversions through the Old Military Road could impact on trade.

The lifeline road connecting Argyll and the Highlands has been plagued by closures for years due to dangerous landslides.

This week marks the start of four months of ground investigations at The Rest and Be Thankful on the A83 – which it’s hoped will pave the way for a £470m permanent solution in the area.

But business owners fear the series of summer diversions through the single track Old Military Road could impact on trade at their busiest time of the year.
