A botched ballot count left Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire the last to declare

An official inquiry is underway into an embarrassing problem that left the Highlands the last to declare an election result.

Although the SNP had already conceded defeat, the 72-hour delay sparked anger at the end of a long political campaign.
