Hundreds of affordable home to be built on Shetland

It's hoped new homes will help alleviate strain on Shetland's fragile social housing market

Three hundred new affordable homes will be built on Shetland to try to ease pressures on the local housing market.

The islands’ Housing Association will receive £20 million from the Scottish Government to begin construction in Lerwick this year.

At the announcement today – the housing minister insisted the project will make a huge contribution to the challenges being felt by Shetland.
