Hundreds join strike action at Grangemouth oil refinery

The workers are all sub-contractors who had agreed to a pay rise of 5% but as the cost of living soars, they are now demanding more.

Hundreds of workers at Grangemouth Oil Refinery are taking “wildcat” strike action over a pay dispute forming picket lines, blocking roads and stopping oil tankers getting in and out of Scotland’s only refinery.

The workers are telling STV News they’re struggling to pay their bills and provide for their families — at a time when petrol prices have been at an all time high – and oil company profits, in the billions.
