Humza Yousaf resigns as Scotland’s First Minister

The withdrawal of support from the Greens left Yousaf with few options.

Humza Yousaf has resigned as Scotland’s First Minister.

After more than a year in the role, his demise came as he faced a vote of no confidence after terminating the power sharing agreement his party had with the Greens.

As the search begins for a successor there are calls for a Scottish election. In the meantime Yousaf will remain in the hot seat – in charge of a minority government.
