Humza Yousaf elected as leader of the SNP

He won the leadership race by a narrow majority - just over 2,000 votes ahead of rival Kate Forbes

Humza Yousaf is the new leader of the SNP and is set to become Scotland’s first ethnic minority First Minister.

And the youngest. The 37-year-old is the first Muslim to lead a major UK party and will be the sixth First Minister of Scotland.

50,000 SNP members cast their votes, a turnout of 70%.

Now MSPs will have their say – and we should have a new First Minister by tomorrow afternoon.
