Housing costs biggest strain on budgets finds report

It comes as the UK inflation rate drops to 7.9% the lowest level in more than a year

Housing costs are putting the biggest strain on household budgets amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.

That’s according to a new report which found many in the Central belt are spending more than a third of their income on rent or mortgage payments each month.

That means costs for the likes of food and fuel are still rising, but at a slower rate.

Although the figure still remains well above target, leaving many still struggling to afford their monthly outgoings.
