Homeowners forced to fork out thousands as insulation scam cases rise

Scots are being misled into buying costly loft insulation by rogue traders claiming it will help cut energy costs.

Home insulation scams are on the rise as rogue traders exploit homeowners trying to cut their energy costs.

Fiona Barton and her husband André, who were scammed out of more than £5000 by conmen selling insulation have told STV News how they spun a web of lies to rob them of their savings and leave them unable to sell their house.

The couple then had to pay a further £6000 to fix the problems and Trading Standards say the number of people being targeted in the scams is rising.
