Home of Gaelic scholar restored by the National Trust

John Lorne Campbell and his wife lived on the island of Canna in the Inner Hebrides.

The population of the island of Canna in the Inner Hebrides is just 22.

But there’s renewed optimism for its future after the National Trust for Scotland spent years restoring the home of the late Gaelic scholar John Lorne Campbell and his wife.

Three children under the age of four are now living on the island with their families.

It means the mothballed school could soon reopen.
