The Scottish Government has failed to hand over any WhatsApp messages to the UK’s Covid inquiry, despite promising to fully cooperate with the probe.
The First Minister insisted his government did not make decisions through the messaging service and that was the scope of what the inquiry asked for, but said he would now ask the solicitor general to intervene.
Bereaved families have reacted angrily to the news, and the inquiry’s chair has insisted stronger powers could be used to obtain any evidence needed.
