Hidden figure revealed beneath one of Fife’s oldest paintings

The piece has now been restored and is on display in the Kirkcaldy Galleries

Art conservationists have revealed a figure hidden behind layers of paint in one of Fife’s oldest paintings.

The Madonna and Child was painted in Italy during the 16th century and was brought to Anstruther 200 years later.
