Healthcare staff to be trained in ‘pre-death grief’ around dementia patients

There are currently 90,000 people in Scotland living with dementia

When we talk about grief, we often think of it as something that occurs after death.

But for people who have a loved one with dementia— a real sense of loss and grief can often start much earlier.

New guidance by Healthcare Improvement Scotland will see healthcare workers trained in pre-death grief, in the hope of improving support and reducing stigma for people impacted by dementia.
