Health service under pressure as winter approaches

Ambulance staff are also bracing themselves for increased demand over the coming months

As winter approaches, figures show Scotland’s health service is already facing mounting pressure.

Waits at Accident and Emergency departments are at their worst level since April, with just over 63% of patients dealt with in 4 hours.

That is well below the Scottish Government’s target of 95%.

However, paramedics have told STV News, long waits for them outside A and E are far less common than in recent years.
