A mother whose child’s deafness went undiagnosed for years says she was branded as a “neurotic first time mum” by doctors when she questioned their testing methods.
In 2021 the health board was forced to apologise for, “serious failings” which meant several profoundly deaf children were diagnosed too late to be offered life changing treatment.
Carri-Anne Farquhar’s son Jamie failed hearing tests but was told by NHS Lothian there was nothing wrong.
