Headteacher would have faced legal proceedings, say survivors’ lawyer

Yesterday, another former teacher became the first person convicted of abusing girls at the school.

“I still recoil at the thought of her” – that’s how one survivor of abuse at a former residential school says she feels about the woman who was in charge.

Lawyers for abuse survivors at Fornethy House say they have “no doubt” this woman – former headteacher Margaret Fletcher – would have faced legal proceedings, had she not passed away.

Yesterday, another former teacher became the first person convicted of abusing girls at the school, in a period spanning three decades.
