Half a million Scots suffered from food insecurity says charity

Education secretary Jenny Gilruth blamed the UK Government for child poverty

The Trussell Trust charity says it’s most in depth study of the problem in Scotland found that some families ran out of food, cut meal sizes or went hungry when they ran out of money.

It comes as an STV News investigation has found increasing reliance on food banks in Scotland’s schools, with almost 180 in just half the country’s schools.
