A report has found victims of one of Scotland’s most shocking abuse cases were failed by Glasgow’s child protection system despite years of warnings.
The 70-page independent review highlighted that there were more than 25 missed opportunities where agencies could have intervened to stop the abuse at what was known as the ‘Beastie House’.
It found critical information was held across agencies, including health, social work and education, but staff had a poor or partial understanding of the whole picture.
In some cases, concerns were downgraded or closed.
Since the case came to light, officials in Glasgow say a rigorous and ongoing audit of child protection cases has been undertaken, and added their thoughts remain firmly with the children impacted and all available support will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
