A year on from almost losing her life in a road accident, a 16-year-old girl has returned to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow as their “guest of honour” on World Trauma Day.
But, surgeons managed to save her – by removing part of her skull and storing it in her stomach to keep it sterile while she recovered.
