Gender Recognition Reform bill passes vote in Holyrood

This new legislation could still face challenge in court and potentially by the UK Government

After years of campaigning and days of debate, MSPs have voted to reform trans rights, moving Scotland to a self-identification system for people who want to change gender.

But there was a record rebellion among SNP MSPs and the Conservatives say it’s bad legislation which attacks the rights of women and girls.
