Fresh pay offer sparks hopes bin strikes will be averted

Refuse workers are scheduled to take industrial action beginning next Wednesday.

Could bin strikes due to be held across Scotland next week be averted? A new pay offer has been tabled from councils to bin and recycling workers across Scotland.

It’s hoped the proposed deal can avert eight days of strike action which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

The overall value of the offer put to unions represents a more than 4.2% increase, according to local authority body COSLA.
