Freezing weather leads to widespread travel disruption

Last night temperatures in parts of Scotland dropped well below zero

Snow and ice are causing widespread travel disruption across Scotland, after temperatures plunged to -15.6 Celsius overnight.

The coldest night of the year so far, saw heavy snow and ice cover the country, leading to severe travel disruption for airports, railways and motorways.

Some schools closed for the day and people struggled with freezing temperatures as the longest yellow weather warning ever issued by the Met Office is extended until Thursday.
