Forbes unveils £5 million for start-up business support

The funding will focus on female led business in a bit to close the gender gap.

Scotland is open for business – that’s the message from the new deputy first minister and economy secretary Kate Forbes, as she unveiled a £5 million package of support for start ups today.

But, female entrepreneurs say they’re still at a huge disadvantage, with just 2% of capital investment funding going to women-led businesses.

One female retailer has told STV News we’re in a cost of business crisis – and far better access to finance is needed to close the gender gap.
