The former deputy first minister John Swinney says he is weighing up whether running for the leadership of the SNP would be the right thing for his family, his party and the country.
Swinney is being tipped as a potential successor to Humza Yousaf who announced his resignation yesterday.
The former finance secretary Kate Forbes also says she is considering her options.
