Food shortages hit rural community after cyber attack

Some residents on Islay had to have food sent from the mainland.

Cyber attacks have led to empty shelves in stores across the country.

In most places, customers were able to shop elsewhere, but in remote communities that is not always an option.

Residents in the Highlands and Islands say essential supplies to lifeline stores must be prioritised – and want robust contingency plans to be put in place for the future.
