First female Police Scotland Chief Constable sworn in

Jo Farrell was previously in charge of Durham Constabulary, one of the smallest in the UK

The first woman to be appointed Chief Constable of Police Scotland has been formally sworn in today.

She takes over a force which has paused recruitment of new officers in an attempt to save money and was branded “institutionally racist” by the previous chief. In a statement she has agreed with that assessment.
