Farmers paying inheritance tax ‘five times higher’ than government figures

However, the UK government insists that their figures are correct.

New research suggests the number of farmers paying more inheritance tax after Labour’s budget announcement could be five times higher than the Government’s figures.

The Central Association of Agricultural Values says Labour has failed to take into account a number of likely scenarios. They estimate that 75,000 people over a generation could be affected.

Labour says its figures take into account those who would be affected by its plans each year and are based on claims data.
