Families are leaving and businesses are in debt in South Uist.
That’s according to the island’s Business Impact Group, which wants the government to improve the ferry services urgently.
South Uist is sharing a service with Barra after its main vessel was redeployed to cover CalMac’s ageing fleet across the network.
Meanwhile, four new ferries being built in Turkey have been delayed again because of labour shortages.
