Families in fear for loved ones as care home closures loom

The latest earmarked is McClymount House which cares for elderly people with dementia

Families in Lanark fear they may become victims of the latest care home closure. More than 200 have shut with the lost of 2,000 places in the last decade.

Families who have loved ones there have launched a campaign, saying they fear their relatives wouldn’t survive a move.

A consultation on its closure is underway – South Lanarkshire Council who run the home say they haven’t made any final decision but need to plug a £21 million black hole in their budget.
