Explosion sent burning debris ‘flying through the air’ at recycling plant

Emergency services were called to a blaze at ENVA plant in Linwood.

People living next to a major fire at a battery recycling plant in Renfrewshire say the blaze caused explosions and sent burning debris flying into the air.

Smoke from the site could be seen for miles around, with locals told to close their windows and stay indoors as it raged. The cause of the fire, at the ENVA plant in Linwood is unknown.

Experts say fires of these kinds can burn extensively and ignite everything around them. often cause other materials to burn with them.
