Experts call homeless plan ‘transformative’ if funding secured

Charities say prevention is the only way to bring down Scotland's spiralling homeless figures

Housing experts say a major plan to prevent homelessness has the potential to be “transformative” and “world leading” – if the Scottish Government comes up with enough cash to fund it.

Its Housing Bill includes new legal duties requiring public bodies to step-in if someone in their care is at risk of losing their home.

The move aims to make sure no-one falls through the cracks when they’re discharged from hospital, or released from prison.
