Energy bills a third cheaper under independence, says Swinney

Opposition parties say he should focus on Scotland's economy and public services.

The First Minister believes energy bills could be a third cheaper in an independent Scotland.

John Swinney also attacked the UK Government for failing to remove the windfall tax on oil and gas companies.

However, he refused to outline how he would persuade the Prime Minister to grant a second independence referendum, if the SNP wins a majority of seats in next year’s Holyrood election.
