An emergency ferry brought in to help ease the mounting pressure on services to and from the island of Arran has made its first crossing after weeks of delays.
CalMac has borrowed the MV Alfred from the Orkney operator Pentland Ferries for 9 months at a cost of £9 million in an attempt to improve the situation for islanders.
Emergency repairs had to be carried out on the vessel before it could begin on the route after a hydraulic failure.
