Edinburgh fire station facing closure weeks after Arthur’s Seat blaze

The Fire Brigades Union is warning the move could increase response times.

Almost four weeks on from a wildfire on Edinburgh’s Arthur’s Seat, the landmark’s closest fire station is facing closure due to crumbling concrete.

Just a short mile away from the scene of the blaze, it’s proposed that the pump and crew at Marionville station should instead be transferred three and a half miles away to Newcraighall.

The Fire Brigades Union is warning the move could increase response times, putting residents and tourists at risk.
