Edinburgh could introduce tourist tax as bill published

The scheme would be a first for Scotland, but is already common place in many European cities

Edinburgh could be one step closer to introducing a so called tourist tax, which council bosses say will improve visitors experiences and manage the impact on the city.

If the bill – published today – passes, it would allow councils to introduce a levy on overnight stays, something councillors here have been pushing for for years.
