Edinburgh clean up beings as strikes set to continue

Industrial action in the capital was followed by walkouts across Scotland - another wave of strikes is planned for next week

A major clean-up operation is underway in Edinburgh, after almost two weeks of strikes by waste teams.

Workers are back on shift today to clear a huge backlog of rubbish from the streets, while pay disputes continue.

Unions were back around the table with the Scottish Government and the councils’ body COSLA this afternoon, in the hope of settling a deal.
